My dream CHRISTMAS CLASSICS collection
October 21, 2009
what a beautiful sunrise after a night of rain. so i did have my usual coffee and smoking session to start my morning.
to add spice to the beautiful morning, i played my CD of Christmas Classics (50s and 60s artists), which took me a year to compile. as i was enjoying my coffee, smoke, and the music, i did get reminded of the time i was still in the efforts of downloading these selections. i used to hear them at Starbucks Coffee during Christmastime and at SM Supercenter in Sucat (yes, i do salute how SM chooses its house music). in all craving to have the songs, i’d take note of some lines of the lyrics and search them at Google, find the titles and artists, and download the songs at LimeWire). finally, i have them all in one CD.
at the time when i was at the height of downloading, i remember my ex-boyfriend asking sarcastically, ANU YAN? so i excitedly answered, i’m collecting songs for a Christmas Classics CD. i hear them at Starbucks and at SM. to my surprise, he answered back, BAKIT MO PINAG-AAKSAYAHAN NG PANAHON ANG MGA YAN? IKAKAYAMAN MO BA YAN??
gosh, i was dumbfounded; insulted as i was, i still managed to answer: GUSTO MONG YUMAMAN? MANG-HOLDUP KA NG BANGKO!
remembering that line put a smile on my face while having my coffee; i felt contented and satisfied with that clever answer that i gave. instead of getting pissed at the memory, my day did brighten up.
and that’s the story for today, Wednesday, October 21.
There’s no place like home for the holidays
December 28, 2008
A simple family celebration in my Sucat home. As the song goes, “There’s no place like home for the holidays.” The presence of Hatsu and my parents was enough to complete the season. Our first time, too, to celebrate Christmas in my home. A JOYOUS CHRISTMAS and a prosperous year of the OX ahead.
I have a tree! :)
November 23, 2008
To be assigned elsewhere from home is not easy especially during the onset of the Christmas season. This is the first year for me to break my tradition of putting up my tree MYSELF. But today, thanks to my dear Hatsu, the tree is up!
Apparently, my niece spent the whole Sunday putting up all my decors in my house. When she sent me these pictures, I was surprised as to how she did it perfectly the way I always do it. At the back of my mind, yes, she had been observing me for 7 Christmases.
Tears were unstoppable. Emotions were mixed — happy because the tree was up finally, missing the comforts of my home, missing bRuNO, and most of all, missing my Hatsu and thanking her deep inside me for putting up my tree.
A Merry Foodie CHRISTMAS
December 24, 2007
The first time in my Manila stay that I’m gonna spend Christmas in my home with Hatsu, a little after the SPS Journals FASHIONISTA Christmas Party.
Highlights of the Noche Buena:
- Roast pineapple chicken from Makki’s Mama
- Kare-kare
- Puto bumbong and Bibingka
- Purefoods Fiesta Ham (of course, should not be missed)
- Puttanesca-Spaghetti
- Red and white wine
- Ice Cream
- Macaroni Salad
All for two. Hehehe. Homecoming to the province is New Year, this time.
The fanciest Christmas ever
December 23, 2007
I don’t know what came to me but I think I made a North Pole out of my house. I have the best tree ever, with all the matching decors and lights in all corners of my apartment, apart from pillow covers, table pieces, Mama’s cross-stitched Christmas wall pieces, and all the gifts under my tree. Probably one factor behind this is I was able to do Christmas shopping ahead of time at Greenhills.
A house beaming with joy! I don’t know if I can ever do this again. The spirit is extraordinarily fantastic!
