The Silver Lining

My dream CHRISTMAS CLASSICS collection

My Dream CHRISTMAS CLASSICS Collection

what a beautiful sunrise after a night of rain. so i did have my usual coffee and smoking session to start my morning.

to add spice to the beautiful morning, i played my CD of Christmas Classics (50s and 60s artists), which took me a year to compile. as i was enjoying my coffee, smoke, and the music, i did get reminded of the time i was still in the efforts of downloading these selections. i used to hear them at Starbucks Coffee during Christmastime and at SM Supercenter in Sucat (yes, i do salute how SM chooses its house music). in all craving to have the songs, i’d take note of some lines of the lyrics and search them at Google, find the titles and artists, and download the songs at LimeWire). finally, i have them all in one CD.

at the time when i was at the height of downloading, i remember my ex-boyfriend asking sarcastically, ANU YAN? so i excitedly answered, i’m collecting songs for a Christmas Classics CD. i hear them at Starbucks and at SM. to my surprise, he answered back, BAKIT MO PINAG-AAKSAYAHAN NG PANAHON ANG MGA YAN? IKAKAYAMAN MO BA YAN??

gosh, i was dumbfounded; insulted as i was, i still managed to answer: GUSTO MONG YUMAMAN? MANG-HOLDUP KA NG BANGKO!

remembering that line put a smile on my face while having my coffee; i felt contented and satisfied with that clever answer that i gave. instead of getting pissed at the memory, my day did brighten up.

and that’s the story for today, Wednesday, October 21.

The dream mp3 renamer

October 20, 2009

Finally, it’s here. It’s MP3TAG, and it’s freeware. I’ve long been looking for an all-in-one mp3 renamer/tag editor to rename my approx. 40,000 mp3 files in my hard drive. This software allows you a faster way to key in the album, track, artist, and genre data, plus a feature to automatically change the mp3 filename according to keyed in audio details at one click of a mouse. What’s best, it helps you find album artwork on the net and pastes the picture on each and every track. I still need to exert effort to master this software prior to renaming my music files, but one thing is sure:
THIS IS IT.

The mp3 player generation

October 14, 2009

Who would eveer think we’d be playing music from a device a little bigger than the thumb? The little-mp3-player mania manifested itself to me in November of 2005. Time to shift to the little techie stuff from that bulky SONY cassette-tape walkman recorder. I have set my hands on four players since I started off with this purple China 256MB mp3, which I sold to Nikkie when I bought a CREATIVE ZEN Nano 1GB in early 2006. In 2007, I finally tried the popular iPOD Nano 2GB. However, as I was not content with the operation of an iPOD plus its complicated iTUNES software, I decided to sell this again to Nikkie and bought a simple 2GB MAGNAVOX Player, which is simply a plug-and-play device. I bought this at WALMART in the States. I still have my CREATIVE ZEN and my MAGNAVOX, plus a set of SONY MDR earphones, making me smile until today.

The Joy of the Classics

Pachelbel - Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-Flat major, Op. 73

A lazy day in the life of the
KIM. Came home at 5 a.m., slept until 1 p.m., and did virtually nothing but blog off for the rest of the day.

As I was facing my PC, my mouse pointer happened to spot on Pachelbel’s Piano Concerto no. 5 in E flat major Op. 73. I did click on it and go on with my writing, but the music just didn’t fail to escape my ears. I so fell in love with this piano concerto that I had to stop writing. I was reminded that I kept a library of classical music, maybe a 4-GB collection, and there was a time when I burned two audio CDs of my classical favorites — the popular tunes which included Pachelbel’s Canon in D, Mozart’s Aria, Beethoven’s Fur Elise, etc. After a quick search, luckily, I found them, including the rare classical CDs that I brought home from the States. I played them all on Theodore (my BOSE Wave System). This is my first time to play classical on Theodore and I never thought he would sound that good! So I spent the rest of the afternoon in collating my classical Mp3s and updating my collection, with a promise to download more and more.

Up until this hour, classics are still blaring from Theodore’s little speakers, and I’m still here, lying down with this notebook on my lap, still blogging away. Classical music practically wiped off my 2-day stress and made me discover that it makes me think, write, and smile. The peace it has brought me today is beyond words.

With this, I am deciding to fill up this 2-GB mp3 player beside me with all classics and take it to work. Who knows, this is the way to pull up my stamina and make me finish all those pages! Hmmm…katching katching!
